I guess I haven't been paying much attention, because there is a giant building going in at 1350 Rogers.
It's not a loss though, previous space was occupied by garages, a few empty lots, and a auto body shop (I think). Here's the streetview pic: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.6367192,-73.9509655,3a,75y,102.38h,78.41t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sLZ-0XIzKKTt71N-QS4k_9A!2e0!5s20120601T000000!7i13312!8i6656
The write up and rendering for the new building is here: http://ditmasparkcorner.com/blog/news/new-affordable-housing-development-flatbush-updated/
The entire building is being rented to low income residents with an emphasis on disability, age, and famlies in that order. DOE says they want the building to integrate with the community, but it seems to have everything needed under 1 roof, laundry, courtyard, social rooms, staff on hand etc..
What do you think?
I like the appearance of the building. it seems like it might be socially isolating instead of integrating. I welcome it over empty lots and run down garages.
